Salary: $15.56/hour
Purpose: Works under general supervision of Supervisor conducting driving tests to assess the driving ability and compliance with traffic safety rules of applicants seeking to obtain a Florida Driver License in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Job Functions)
- Perform basic vehicle inspections to ensure vehicle is safe to operate*
- Provide clear and concise driving test instructions to applicant to ensure full understanding of the required maneuvers*
- Observe, evaluate, and rate applicant driving ability for each maneuver during driving test while riding in vehicle along with applicant*
- Advise applicant of pass, fail or disqualification*
- Greet customers, determine service needs and provide information related to Tax Collector services*
- Complete required documentation and reporting in a timely manner*

- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and laws related to driver licenses and driving tests
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Skilled in observation and monitoring of others
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, policies, procedures, and legal requirements related to driver licenses and driving tests
- Ability to easily and effectively communicate both positive and negative feedback to customers from various backgrounds
- Ability to deal with difficult or irate customers in an effective and calm
- Ability to safely ride in and operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to prepare documentation and reports and maintain records
- Ability to use a computer or mobile device
- Work requires regular and reliable attendance
- Work requires walking or standing up to 90% of the time
- Work requires ability to reach, push, pull, climb, bend and lift (up to 10 lbs.)
Working Conditions
- Work is performed outside with potential for exposure to adverse weather and environmental conditions including but not limited to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes, humidity, rain, and temperature and noise extremes.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED;
- 21 years of age or older;
- At least four (4) years of driving experience; and
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver License.
