Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency. This role performs preventive maintenance, supports daily operations, and assists in facility upkeep, working closely with the Maintenance Manager and other departments to minimize downtime and maintain a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered and hydraulic manufacturing equipment
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and services according to established schedules for both equipment and facility systems
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, diesel engine, and facility issues and determine corrective actions
- Replace, repair, and calibrate parts to maintain operational standards
- Perform general facility maintenance, including lighting, HVAC support, minor plumbing, painting, and building repairs
- Maintain accurate service records, logs, and repair documentation
- Read and interpret technical manuals, hydraulic schematics, diesel diagrams, and blueprints
- Utilize hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
- Monitor equipment performance and assist in implementing improvement initiatives
- Comply with all ATMI safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance personnel
- Work Saturdays or additional hours as required
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or certification in Diesel Mechanics, Hydraulics, Industrial
- Maintenance, or Facility Maintenance preferred
- Minimum of three years of experience in diesel, hydraulic, and facility maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial Setting
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and facility systems
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance best practices
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical documents
- Familiarity with standard safety practices in a manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
- Must complete and pass all ATMI Indy Safety Training Programs including Lock-Out Tag-Out, Working from Heights, Confined Space, Forklift Operation, and Manlift Operation
- Ability to complete crane inspections
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
Environment and Physical Requirements
- Frequent climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Regular exposure to noise, dust, and variable weather conditions in plant and yard environments
- Occasional extended or weekend hours to meet operational needs
