This role is essential to balancing project execution, workforce planning, and business development. The Resource Specialist is responsible for maintaining visibility into team utilization and capacity, helping leadership make informed decisions about staffing, hiring, and project pursuit.

You will interface regularly with engineering, project management, sales, and leadership teams to forecast demand, assess availability, and solve resource conflicts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys proactive planning, thrives in complexity, is energized to learn and develop new software tools, and wants to influence how work gets done across a growing technical organization. This position reports to the President.

In this role, you will…

  • Own the development and execution of Spring’s resource planning process across engineering, project execution, and other technical teams.
  • Track and analyze team workload balancing across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Develop custom reports, scripts, and dashboards with business intelligence software's such as Power BI, RUNN, Tableau or similar platforms
  • Partner closely with the Project Execution, Engineering, and Sales teams to anticipate and plan for upcoming project needs.
  • Collaborate with department leads to provide data-informed hiring recommendations.
  • Maintain an accurate forecast of resource needs based on short- and long-term project pipelines.
  • Proactively identify resource gaps, project stacking, and conflicts, and help teams resolve them early.
  • Develop and document standardized processes for resource tracking and reporting.
  • Provide leadership with insight into resourcing trends and how they impact strategic priorities.
  • Support pre-sales and bid teams with resourcing projections and potential delivery constraints.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as this is a new role and continues to evolve.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience in the automation industry.
  • 3+ years of experience in Resource Management, Project Management, Operations Planning, or similar roles.
  • Experience creating custom reports and dashboards in tools like Power BI, Lookr, Tableau, or similar business intelligence platforms.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or VBA is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to forecast, schedule, and optimize team workloads across multiple projects and departments.
  • Solid understanding of project execution, preferably in automation, controls, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong ability to work with cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, and executive leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—you know how to ask questions, listen actively, and share insights clearly.
  • Familiarity with concepts like utilization rate, capacity planning, project prioritization, and resource leveling.
  • Clear and confident communicator—can translate data and planning decisions across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills—can push back when needed, manage expectations, and build consensus.
  • Comfortable working independently while also aligning with broader organizational goals.

At Spring Automation, we believe in growing together and embracing challenges as a team. If you’re excited about this role but don’t check every box, we still encourage you to apply. We value innovation, teamwork, and adaptability—qualities that can’t always be captured in a job description. You might be the perfect fit!
