Description

 Rising Aviation High School (RAHS), located at Addison Airport, Addison, Texas, is an innovative high school program  immersing students in an aviation-centric environment.  Students complete all of their required courses while attending  school, however, special emphasis is placed on aviation courses for their electives.  RAHS is seeking a non-aviation  teacher/facilitator to manage the web-based learning of students, held in-person at the RAHS Addison campus.  A  teaching background is strongly preferred, however, all candidates who meet the position qualifications below are  encouraged to apply.  RAHS is a fully accredited Texas private high school, recognized by the Texas Education Agency.  

Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

 ? Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.   ? Valid Texas teacher certificate (or other state).  ? 1-3 years teaching/instructional experience in high school or higher education setting.  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  ? Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and  objectives through the use of our web-based student learning management system.  ? Work cooperatively with colleagues to identify student placement in instructional software.  ? Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of  the students.   ? Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.   ? Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.   ? Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.   ? Help supervise and monitor students during arrival, dismissal, and other school day transitions.  ? Make provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes.   ? Maintain and improve professional competence.   ? Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community.   ? Perform other duties as assigned.  


 SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   

? Strong and proactive classroom management.  ? Savvy in the use of computer technology, to include software, databases used by the school, Google  educational platform, spreadsheet and word processing software.  ? Effective communication in written/verbal forms, both internal and external to the organization, including parent  communication.  ? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external.   ? Solution-driven personality, with the ability to apply problem-solving skills.   


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   

? Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.   ? Long periods of moving and standing within the classroom.  ? Evening and weekend activities may occasionally be required.
