Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of Accounting Manager/Controller is responsible for directing and controlling the accounting functions of the bank, regulatory reporting and oversight of bank examinations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Oversee the accounting, financial reporting and regulatory reporting for the bank. 
  2. Provide financial budgeting and forecasting for branch operations with the Chief Financial Officer.
  3. Provide daily review of the Bank's financial position.
  4. Supervise the accounting department team and coordinate the preparation of daily and monthly financial statements and financial reports.
  5. Identify, evaluate, and report any current or prospective risks to earnings or capital arising from violation of laws, rules/regulations.
  6. Complete training annually and adhere to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations, which mandate procedures to detect and prevent money laundering activities within a financial institution; this could involve tasks such as customer due diligence, assistance in suspicious activity reporting (SAR), and recordkeeping compliance. 
  7. Manage implementation of changes to current accounting practices as dictated by changes in GAAP accounting and reporting requirements. 
  8. Lead and/or participate in on-site examinations of banking organizations to identify and evaluate key accounting and financial control processes including managing examiners to meet project objectives.
  9. Establishing financial controls for the bank. 
  10. Preparing management reports for Board meetings on the financial condition of the bank.
  11. All other duties as assigned. 


Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

Bachelor's degree. Masters degree preferred.

Ten or more years experience in management/audit in a financial institution. 

Demonstrated experience in the financial industry and accounting and auditing practices. 

Previous Financial Reporting experience.

Strong Technical/GAAP experience.

Previous Supervisory experience.

Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills.


COMPLIANCE

The incumbent has the responsibility to acquire and maintain the required knowledge of State and Federal Banking regulations and policies and those regulations and policies inherent to position requirements.


SPECIFIC EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL

  1. Knowledge of Windows based software, and bank accounting software systems.
  2. Ability to use a personal computer.
