SUMMARY
The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is a non-profit membership organization that serves the needs of tree care professionals and promotes the profession of arboriculture around the world. ISA is known as the industry authority on research, education and professional development. Each role in the organization plays an important part in delivering excellent member benefits and customer service. The Communications Specialist develops content that supports the ISA marketing strategy and tactics and enhances engagement and adoption of ISA products and services. Key communications responsibilities include: developing content for ISA collateral including, but not limited to, email campaigns, newsletters, press releases, presentations, talking points, speeches, social media posts, articles, videos, and web content. The Communications Specialist finds Provides marketing support for ISA conferences, events, meetings, membership, and all appropriate ISA programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include those listed below; other duties may be assigned, as needed.
• Understands ISA’s Vision Statement and adheres to ISA staff core values
• Manage, develop and maintain TreesAreGood.org website content to maximize public education opportunities.
• Create and implement content and public relations campaigns for all major ISA programs including International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC), Arbor Day, the ISA Annual Conference, ISA Awards programs, and other key events or products.
• Coordinate responses to all media inquiries, including finding the best available subject matter expert to answer arboriculture questions.
• Assist with marketing department project and traffic management, procurement, and invoice reconciliation.
• Manages development, editorial, and distribution responsibilities of ISA Today, Tree-sources and Climbers’ Edge electronic newsletters, emailed to various audiences including ISA members, credential holders, and other ISA leaders.
• Writes feature articles for partner publications when requested.
• Manage, develop and maintain the ITCC, ISA, and TreesAreGood.org websites; routinely review site content and approve requests for site changes,.
• Support development and execution of integrated marketing strategies and tactics including activities related to advertising, website development, mass email marketing, corporate communications and public relations.
• Work with the Director of Marketing Services to set marketing priorities and determine policies regarding ISA marketing activities including brand consistencies in ISA marketing and promotions materials.
• Serves as staff liaison to the ISA Awards Committee: leads marketing for awards nominations and manages collection of nominations; coordinates Awards Committee meetings and nomination review process; manages award recipient notification and fulfillment; develops narratives and coordinates video production of award recipients for recognition at ISA Annual Conference;
• Assist with logo requests and inquiries as needed.
• Work with Marketing Services Director on special projects, as needed.

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required in public relations, marketing, communications or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years copywriting/editing, marketing, public relations or corporate communications experience required, preferably with a membership or non-profit organization; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills
• Fluent in English, both verbal and written. Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to write and edit correspondence in a professional manner.
