Technical Skills

  • Proficient in the operation and adjustment of woodworking and assembly equipment, including table saw, chop saw, jointer, hand router, splinter, power screwdrivers, power screw dado machine, and miscellaneous hand tools
  • Strong understanding of woodworking techniques and proper use of adhesives
  • Knowledge of wood species and characteristics
  • Familiarity with various fasteners and their appropriate applications
  • Able to identify and utilize various joinery types
  • Knowledge of engineered materials, veneers, laminates and composites
  • Understanding of cabinet and fixture construction
  • Ability to cut and form parts from raw materials using various powered and hand tools

Assembly & Finishing

  • Ability to assemble units squarely and within specified dimensional tolerances
  • Skilled in basic wood and solid surface sanding techniques
  • Knowledge of finishing preparation and touch-up techniques (e.g., use of filler sticks, putty)
  • Knowledge of door and drawer mounting, along with various hardware applications

Blueprints & Measurements

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for dimensions, assembly requirements, and fixture details
  • Competence in using detailed measuring devices to ensure precision and quality
  • Capable of marking fixtures accurately with correct information

Production & Process Understanding

  • Ability to extract key information from work packets, including material specifications and hardware requirements
  • Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles

Quality & Accountability

  • Strong commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards across all aspects of the job
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to problem solve and identify root causes

Physical Requirements

This role is physically demanding and requires regular movement in a production setting:


Posture & Movements

  • Occasional (1–10%): Sitting, crouching, climbing (stairs/ladders/forklift), balancing
  • Infrequent to Moderate (11–33%): Bending/stooping, twisting, reaching overhead
  • Frequent (34–66%): Walking, pushing/pulling, reaching forward and low-level
  • Constant (67–100%): Standing

Lifting & Carrying

  • Rare (1–5%): 75–100 lbs.+ (team or assisted lifts)
  • Occasional (6–33%): 25–74 lbs.
  • Frequent (34–66%): Up to 24 lbs.
