Position Summary:

The Game Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing arcade games, rides, and other interactive entertainment equipment in a family entertainment center, arcade, or amusement facility. This role ensures that all gaming machines and attractions are in proper working condition, providing guests with a seamless and enjoyable experience. The Game Technician plays a key role in ensuring minimal downtime for equipment and ensuring that safety protocols are followed during maintenance and repair procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Repair:
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on arcade games, video machines, redemption equipment, and other amusement devices.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with machines, including electrical, mechanical, and software problems.
  • Replace faulty components (e.g., circuit boards, wiring, fuses, monitors) to restore equipment to operational condition.
  • Ensure all machines are cleaned, well-maintained, and properly calibrated.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
  • Quickly identify issues with malfunctioning equipment by conducting thorough diagnostics.
  • Use diagnostic tools and manuals to resolve problems efficiently and accurately.
  • Record maintenance and repair activities in a maintenance log, including detailed descriptions of issues and actions taken.
  • Equipment Installation & Setup:
  • Assist with the installation and setup of new games, attractions, or systems as needed.
  • Ensure proper placement and setup of equipment, ensuring safety standards are met and the equipment is ready for use by guests.
  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow safety protocols when working with electrical, mechanical, and other equipment to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Adhere to all company and industry safety standards, ensuring that all games and machines are safe for guest use.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with operational guidelines and safety requirements for all equipment.
  • Guest Interaction & Support:
  • Occasionally interact with guests when games or machines are down, providing updates on repair progress and offering assistance where needed.
  • Assist staff with troubleshooting issues when guests report problems with machines.
  • Provide guidance to guests on machine usage or provide information when necessary.
  • Inventory & Parts Management:
  • Keep track of necessary replacement parts and tools, ensuring an adequate inventory of commonly used components.
  • Work with management to place orders for new parts, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain organized storage of tools and spare parts for quick access.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with management and other staff members to schedule repairs during low-traffic periods to minimize downtime.
  • Communicate effectively with the team regarding the status of repairs, equipment issues, or new installations.
  • Provide training or guidance to other team members about basic troubleshooting or maintenance tasks.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines to extend their lifespan and reduce the likelihood of malfunctions.
  • Follow a scheduled maintenance plan to keep equipment in peak working condition and minimize unexpected downtime.


Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or training in electronics, mechanical systems, or a related field is a plus.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in arcade machine maintenance, electronics repair, or a similar technical role is highly preferred.
  • Experience with basic tools and diagnostic equipment is essential.

Skills:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of arcade game systems, video machines, and related technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems efficiently.
  • Good communication skills to work with team members and occasionally interact with guests.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, kneel, or crouch for extended periods while working on machines.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (e.g., heavy equipment or parts).
  • Comfortable working in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces and use hand tools or power tools.

Work Environment:

  • The Game Technician works primarily in an indoor, high-energy environment such as an arcade or family entertainment center.
  • The work environment can be noisy, especially during peak times (weekends, holidays, or special events).
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required based on operational needs.
  • May need to work in areas with fluctuating temperatures or under dim lighting conditions when performing repairs.
