Description

Located in Lexington, KY the MPO Strategic Sr. Associate is a critical role within the Managing Partner Office, reporting directly to the Chief of Staff. This position provides high-level support to the Managing Partner and senior leadership through presentation creation, financial analysis, and strategic business support. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a passion for contributing to the firm’s success in a fast-paced private equity environment. 


Strategic Business Support (40%)

  • Support the Chief of Staff in executing strategic initiatives, such as fundraising campaigns, portfolio optimization, or firm-wide process improvements
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects, including liaising with investment, operations, and legal teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform the Managing Partner’s strategic decisions and long-term vision

Financial Analysis & Modeling (30%)

  • Build and maintain financial modeling and financial analysis to support investment decisions, firm-level planning , portfolio performance tracking, and fundraising efforts
  • Prepare reports summarizing key metrics (e.g., IRR, EBITDA, cash flow) for the Managing Partner’s review
  • Assist in due diligence processes by analyzing financial statements, market trends, and operational data for potential investments

Data Analysis & Insights (20%)

  • Gather, synthesize, and analyze large datasets to generate actionable insights
  • Develop dashboards and visual reports to communicate trends and performance indicators
  • Ability to learn and adapt using different AI technology. Stay up to speed on the most relevant and upcoming AI tools to enhance outputs/performance, etc. 

Presentation Creation (10%)

  • Develop polished, high-impact presentations for internal and external audiences, including investor meetings, board presentations, and portfolio company reviews
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Staff and investment teams to distill complex data into clear, visually compelling narratives
  • Ensure all materials align with MiddleGround’s brand standards and reflect the Managing Partner’s strategic priorities
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus but not required
  • 2–4 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or a related field
  • Proven track record in financial analysis, modeling, and presentation development
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) or CRM platforms a plus
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for storytelling through presentations
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive  and self-motivated, with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Discreet and professional, with the ability to handle confidential information
