Treatment Care Advocate
Description

Job Function:

Presents the knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic quality care and non-technical services for clients. Optimizes client safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors. Ensure clients’ needs are met and facility policies are followed.

Position-specific Competencies

Skills:

§ Clean driving record with a class ‘C’ or better driver’s license. 

§ Obtain and keep updated all necessary training required by Burning Tree Lodge.

§ Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, sending/receiving emails.

§ Function as an effective team member.

Knowledge:

§ 1 year in Active/Continuous Recovery free of mood and mind altering substances and have active participation in a 12-step program.

§ To perform the outlined responsibilities and duties in a professional manner.

§ To adhere to the outlined works schedule and communicate if not able to fulfill a shift.

§ To communicate any issues outside the normal activities to Supervisor.

§ To demonstrate appropriate professional behavior and communication with other staff.

§ To become familiar with the Intent, Implementation and Culture of Burning Tree Lodge. 

§ To attend the necessary staff and training meetings on a regular basis if requested to do so.

§ If driving a BTL vehicle, maintain all traffic laws and report any Mechanical or service-related issues immediately. 

§ Maintain all required certifications and licenses (including clean driving record).

§ Participate in training and coaching of staff members as needed. 


Duties and Responsibilities

· Document observations both positive and negative interactions with clients in the company shift notes. Implementing real time redirection and accountability to BTL clients. 

· Monitors and records accurately self-administration of resident medications.

· Observes indications of common side effects, reactions, and possible interactions of medications prescribed for clients and takes the appropriate precautions needed.

· Conduct new client intake and discharges as assigned. 

· Conduct new client orientation groups once a week. 

· Monitors living quarters and other buildings to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the facility.

· Conducts and reports living quarter checks.

· Conducts security check of premises of all unattended offices on shift and at the end of shift. 

· Conduct and supervise client phone calls as assigned by the supervisor or clinical team. 

· Collects urine specimens and conducts breathalyzer tests for clients upon intake and as requested.

· Receives and processes resident medications.

· Pick up and process all incoming mail. Monitors distribution of resident mail.

· Answer the main phone lines after hours if necessary.

· Monitors preparation of nightly meals daily.

· Reports any unusual activity, situation, safety risk, and/or client care urgently to the Executive Director/DRS. 

· Assists Director of Recovery Services with all resident appointments and transportation needs.

· Drives residents to outside meetings as scheduled and/or to scheduled outings.

· Picks up new residents at airport or other treatment facilities, airport, etc.

· Perform other work related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee may be required to transport clients in high traffic areas for meetings, appointments, etc.


The employee will be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from clients in working environment. The employee may experience traumatic situations involving psychiatric clients.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.



Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas Driver license with acceptable driving record.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare/rehab setting preferred.
  • CPR certified preferred.
  • Ability to adhere to a flexible work schedule.
  • General knowledge and understanding of substance abuse treatment.
  • General knowledge and understanding of 12-Step philosophy and applications of the 12-Step program.
  • Moderate reading, writing, and grammar skills.
