Job Description:
As the Operations Lead / Supervisor, you will bring an analytical and problem-solving approach and provide data driven decisions and solutions to Operations regarding freight related issues. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day transportation duties. You will play an important part in ensuring the process is being followed and will act as a liaison between various departments. The ideal candidate must have effective communication and interaction across all levels of the organization. They must be comfortable to work independently but also embrace collaboration and working within a dynamic, positive, and energetic team.
Responsible for Daily Transportation Operations
- Oversee daily transportation operations, ensuring timely and efficient freight handling needs.
- Prepare facilities for peak volumes with projections and carrier communication.
- Monitor and address transportation-related issues, ensuring quick resolution to avoid service disruptions.
- Solidify strong relationships with key partners and ensure service levels are met.
- Supervise transportation team members, including operations supervisors, dispatchers, Class A and Class C drivers and forklift drivers.
- Delegates to team members and creates an environment where they can take initiative and succeed.
- Builds positive relationships with team members and communicates job expectations and provides regular feedback on performance.
- Authorizes annual vacations for team and ensures proper coverage.
- Participates in the goals and objectives process and provides compensation changes.
- Provides guidance, resources, and support for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coaches, mentors, and hold team members accountable for all performance related responsibilities.
- Ensures that all safety rules and safe job procedures are followed.
- Follow security protocol for the warehouse and facility.
- Participates in daily or weekly conference calls for certain customers that may require attendance or attention
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in the LTL/FTL Transportation Industry
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel
- Dispatching exp; Local & out of state freight
- Excellent verbal and email communication skills
- Ability to problem solve and create concrete solutions and standardize practices for the operation as a whole
- Be able to help facilitate and fill in for all shifts that will need help and guidance at any time
- Bilingual a plus (Spanish)
