Description

SUMMARY Supports Packwell’s production, warehouse and logistics operations, by performing various mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical preventive maintenance and repair activities, and other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Essential duties and responsibilities are described below. Other duties may be assigned   

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (essential duties) 1. Performs preventive maintenance work order tasks, for assigned work orders, records parts and supplies used, and reports labor in eMaint. 2. Responds to emergency equipment problems outside regular work hours, when on-call or available.  3. Uses appropriate hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and specialized equipment to troubleshoot equipment failures, diagnoses cause of problems, identifies repairs and repair parts needed, and makes repairs. 4. Follows safe work practices including LOTO, safe operation of service vehicles (golf carts, forklifts, hoists, slings) and correct use of PPE, to prevent accidents or injuries. 5. Inspects and checks equipment is in safe operating condition, verifies integrity of access panels and protective guards, correct function and availability of safety features and warning devices (warning lights, gauges, safety belts, lights, horns, brakes & braking devices, batteries), 6. Reports the need to add supplies, and replace or replenish parts and supplies, to maintenance department inventory. 7. Collects used maintenance supplies (waste oil, lubricants and other fluids, waste rags, defective parts, batteries, tires) for recycling or safe disposal, as appropriate. 8.  Cross-trains maintenance technicians, and trains maintenance helpers to perform equipment inspections and perform preventive maintenance, to extend department capabilities. 9.  Maintains the confidentiality of company, customer and personnel information.  

OTHER DUTIES Participates in daily status meetings. Run errands as needed to respond to equipment emergencies. Coordinates repair and maintenance work performed by OEM or outsourced maintenance contractors, escorts visitors as needed.  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The Maintenance Technician may supervise or verify work performed by Maintenance Helpers, as assigned.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 7 or more years maintenance experience, preferably supporting mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical equipment, hydraulic and motorized systems. Industry experience is preferable. Computer (pc and tablet) use & proficiency: Office software (email), eMaint software. The ability to speak and communicate effectively in Spanish is desirable. Demonstrate organizational skills to prioritize tasks, investigate and resolve problems, and handle several projects at once.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk (approximately 40% of workday), stand (40%), and occasionally sit (20%).   The employee is required to lift and/or move materials, weighing up to 40 lbs., and safely use material handling tools and equipment to lift or transport larger or heavier items. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Approximately 90% of work time may be spent inside the Production and Warehouse areas, and in adjacent yard areas, where noise levels are moderately high, and requires the correct use of PPE. The remaining 10% of work time is performed in a non-smoking, climate-controlled office environment.  The noise level in that work environment is usually quiet.
