Elementary Teacher (Part Time) 

Overtown Youth Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary Teacher to join our team. What You Would Do: 

• Act as a liaison between the Overtown Youth Center and DCPS, ensuring smooth communication and coordination of services. 
• Teach all subject areas as part of a well-rounded curriculum for students in the program. 
• Plan and implement daily classroom activities, preparing engaging lesson plans and developmental activities. 
• Work with at-risk youth, supporting their academic and personal growth while fostering a safe and positive learning environment. 
• Document student progress, including attendance, test scores, graduation rates, and accomplishments. 
• Assist with field trips, exposure trips, and other extracurricular activities when necessary. 
• Coordinate services and collaborate with other professionals and paraprofessionals to support student development. 
• Participate in weekly meetings with the lead teacher to discuss curriculum, student progress, and overall classroom goals. 
• Actively engage in staff development workshops and training sessions to enhance personal and professional growth. 
• Build strong relationships with students, creating a positive and encouraging classroom environment. 
• Contribute to the quality improvement process, offering feedback and participating in ongoing evaluation of programs and practices.

• Ability to adapt to changing needs and goals, demonstrating flexibility in job functions and responsibilities. 
• Positive, team-oriented attitude and the ability to collaborate with others effectively. 
• Willingness to participate in field trips and bus duties as needed. 
• Ability to handle confidential information appropriately. 
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to act decisively when necessary to protect the well-being of students.
