Summary of Description:
Develop and oversee the engineering and design efforts for construction drawings / packages for projects.
Duties:
- Assist in the definition of project work scopes for engineering requirements, including package deliverable requirements.
- Assist with Process Safety Management/Process Hazard Analysis
- Concisely describing the project requirements by means of engineering sketches and verbal instructions to the design staff. Presenting this work to the design personnel in an organized form suitable for design by the available personnel.
- Coordinating and organizing work with other disciplines. Maintaining good working relationships between disciplines.
- Checking drawing packages for completeness and accuracy.
- Performing calculations required for their discipline. The ability to check calculations of other engineers for completeness, code compliance and accuracy.
- Equipment Specifications and Vendor interaction.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in a related technical field from an accredited university with at least three (3) years of experience in petrochemical, chemical, offshore, pipeline or utility industries; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
License Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement
- Professional Engineer Intern with professional registration preferred
Specific Skills:
- Knowledge of discipline design codes and other industry standard discipline related regulatory codes expected.
- AutoCAD knowledge with 2 years minimum experience preferred.
- Process Safety Management/Process Hazard Analysis
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook or similar software with preference on spreadsheets, data base and word processing.
- Familiar with discipline specific compute applications (i.e., ETAP, STAAD, CEASAR, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
- Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
- Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
- Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
- Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
- Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.

Purpose of the Position:
The Asset Integrity/Reliability Engineer has the responsibility for providing reliability and inspection support for the rubber manufacturing units and off-sites support. He/she also has technical oversight of all activities related to mechanical integrity and reliability programs. Responsibility for mechanical integrity evaluation, fitness for service determination, new equipment inspection, and developing and implementing risk based inspection practices are also a function of this position. The position requires a BS degree in Engineering. (Mechanical) The incumbent must have good interpersonal skills since he/she has no subordinates but is required to influence others for task accomplishment and relies on them information flow. He/she must be highly proficient using a PC. Experience in day-to-day equipment maintenance and SAP software functions is a plus.
Main Responsibilities:
- The role of the Asset Integrity/Reliability Engineer is to ensure product quality and proper maintenance of plant equipment
- Provide comprehensive subject matter expertise for mechanical maintenance and design.
- Provide necessary expertise to the maintenance department for technical support of all fixed and rotating equipment. Ensure mechanical integrity and structural integrity of all units and site infrastructure.
- Provide necessary expertise pertaining to PSV inspections and repairs, vessel inspections and repairs, material of construction compliance, and structural integrity.
- Work with Unit Engineers to initiate, monitor, maintain, and improve the preventative and predictive maintenance programs for the rubber units and off-sites. Take corrective actions as required.
- Ensure compliance with all assigned areas of regulatory requirements such as PSRM, Title V, etc.
- Monitor and focus technical improvement initiatives to control maintenance & stores cost objectives. Participate in project teams and continuous improvement activities to improve safety, environmental conditions, ergonomics, and cost savings.
- Interact daily with Central Maintenance/Asset Integrity/Reliability team members, and production departments.
- Initiate, monitor, maintain, and improve the preventative and predictive maintenance programs for site firewater and pipeline systems.
- Special projects as assigned.
Job Dimensions:
Primary focus is to ensure plant equipment reliability, and proper use of maintenance standards and codes. Proper effective installation of assigned capital projects . Optimizes the process and /or equipment.
The position reports to the AIG/Reliability Superintendent. Comprehensive facilities management knowledge and experience in all facets of plant maintenance will be helpful. This entails analyzing various external regulations and procedures for application at this site. He must make recommendations that could be implemented plant-wide. His objective should be the continual improvement of reliability and all aspects of mechanical or PCS operations, either expense or capital. In the area of special assignments and projects, he will perform investigations and analyses.
Establish an overall equipment asset integrity/reliability program in accordance with applicable federal regulations, corporate procedures and internal policies to ensure product quality and the safe, efficient, and cost effective maintenance of plant equipment with a more central focus on PSM-related items. Engineer and manage key capital projects and MOC’s to improve safety, environmental, quality, cost, reliability, and capacity .
This position’s primary customer is the operational units. This position provides preventative and predictive methods to ensure equipment performance and capital project design, scheduling and construction management techniques to ensure successful project implementations . Much of the focus of this job are the day-to-day improvements that don’t necessarily require a capital investment.
