POSITION SUMMARY
We seek a diligent and customer-focused Laundry Attendant for our premier retirement community, The Virginian.
Our laundry attendant is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate laundering of resident personal items, community linens, and staff uniforms while adhering to all safety and infection control protocols. This role supports the overall cleanliness, comfort, and dignity of our residents by maintaining high standards in laundry services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect, sort, and wash resident clothing, linens, towels, and other laundry items using commercial laundry equipment.
- Dry, fold, and organize laundry according to specific procedures and resident preferences.
- Label and return clean clothing to the appropriate residents’ rooms or closets.
- Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor machines for proper functioning and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry room, including daily cleaning of machines and work areas.
- Follow community procedures for infection prevention and control, including proper handling of soiled laundry.
- Communicate with residents, caregivers, and team members in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Assist with inventory and ordering of laundry supplies as needed.
- Uphold confidentiality and respect residents’ privacy at all times.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and certificates:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience, Competencies, and Skills:
- At least one (1) year of previous experience in laundry or housekeeping preferred, especially in healthcare or senior living settings.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
- Friendly and professional demeanor.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
