Job Summary
As a Plant Manager, the principal responsibility is to ensure safe and efficient operations of reverse osmosis water treatment plant(s) and aid in facilitating construction of new water treatment plant(s) as business growth dictates. Working cross-functionally with Engineering/Project Management, Field Services and Business Development teams is expected to facilitate further growth of the business. Direct leadership/management of local Operations staff is expected to maximize plant uptime, drive efficiency, and maintain a safe work environment. An additional vital component of this role is to serve as the local ambassador for the company, seek growth opportunities within the island and communicate with direct manager regarding all potential opportunities. Duties will range from budgeting, financial performance ownership, team management, scheduling, administration, equipment troubleshooting, equipment repairs, process troubleshooting, administering a preventative maintenance program, procurement, maintaining inventory, and client relations.
- Lead the team to ensure all safety metrics are achieved and build a robust safety culture.
- Review/recommend/implement/maintain Environmental Health and Safety initiatives.
- Create and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Develop operational KPI’s and manage the operation based on KPI’s and best practices among the Seven Seas Water fleet of plants.
- Develop preventive maintenance plans and lead maintenance and operations activities for plant.
- Work with the management to prepare budgetary estimates for annual operating costs.
- Ensure ongoing operating costs fall within budgeted estimates – communicate with Regional Manager for any potential variances to planned operating expense budgets.
- Leadership of plant operators – direct supervisory responsibility.
- Serve as site leader/coordinator for plant-related projects – lead communication with Operations Support & Field Engineering teams, Design/Engineering, and business leadership.
- Drive timely, on-budget project execution – serve as liaison with local sub-contractors, etc.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance programs are completed on time and documented as such.
- Provide ongoing training to operators on system operation and maintenance.
- Provide detailed documentation of plant condition(s) and accurate/timely field reports.
- Experienced in construction, operation, and maintenance of water systems.
- Make recommendations for system improvements to management.
- Understand drawings including mechanical piping, P&ID's, electrical and general equipment.
Key skills and Qualifications
- Minimum five years of experience in leading the operation of a desalination water plant or related industrial process (chemical, petrochemical, LNG, etc) plant.
- Skilled in use of computers, Microsoft Office suite of programs & generally IT literate.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language.
- Must be able to read, understand and make good use of process and instrumentation drawings.
- Experience in strategic planning and implementation.
- Well-organized with excellent leadership qualities.
- Must be physically fit and capable of physically working on equipment mentioned above; may sometimes require prolonged standing, walking, and exposure to adverse weather conditions, as well as lifting up to fifty pounds. Must be capable of bending and stooping, along with crawling between equipment and pipes. Must be physically fit and capable of physically working on equipment.
- Ability to work full-time (40hrs per week) with overtime as needed (after hours or weekends) as needed.
Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of trade-school education and work experience.
