San Juan Diego Catholic High School (SJDCHS) is in search of a dynamic leader to serve as director of the corporate internship program, with a committed focus on its core values of Catholic identity, faith formation, academic excellence, and stewardship. SJDCHS is a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory high school with an enrollment of 150 students, located in South Austin, minutes from downtown. Governed by its board of directors in partnership with the Congregation of Holy Cross, SJDCHS is a faith-filled community that provides students a college-preparatory education, along with an unparalleled corporate internship experience throughout all four years of high school. Ministerial Character
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors, presidents, and principals serve as leaders of the schools to make Christ's mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christ's mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christ's mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities.

Positions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church. The position is hired and evaluated by the school president.
 

Requirements

 Job Summary 

As the Director of the Corporate Internship Program (CIP), this position will interact with students, school personnel, and business leaders to execute the transformative CIP model alongside other CIP staff. The primary duties of this role include recruiting new and maintaining current sponsorships, overseeing job placement and training, and managing CIP's daily operations.


Purpose: The CIP Director will provide and retain revenue-generating job placements for SJD students at organizations aligned with the school's values. 


Accomplishing this includes the following:

? Securing paid internships at local corporations and businesses for all enrolled students

? Overseeing the placement, training, supervision, transportation, and evaluation of our

student workers

? Stewarding relationships with Corporate Partners

? Supervising and supporting a team of staff and volunteers

? Overseeing all matters of legal compliance pertaining to the CIP program


The CIP Director will require strong skills, including communication, people management,

project management, financial acumen, presentation skills, and strategic thinking and execution.


Essential Duties

? Team Leadership: Build, guide, and supervise the CIP team, which administers daily operations and coordinates interactions between the student workers and CIP Partners. Oversee Partner stewardship calendar and new student job development. Report to the School Board and relevant subcommittees at the President's request. Ensure the CIP team is engaging in best practices in Partner management and student support. Develop and implement CIP goals, policies, procedures, and strategic planning. Develop and oversee a robust annual program calendar that incorporates events and stakeholder engagement activities that help the CIP accomplish its goals. Serve as an external representative for CIP at community and Partner events; as the opportunities arise, engage in speaking events at Partner sites and/or support the President in doing so. Report to the President, serve as a leadership team member, and provide input to the President on operations, policies, budget, and other issues.

? Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of CIP Partner relationships and student work teams employed at those Partners. Build strong relationships with and coach students toward excellent performance at their work placement. Build strong relationships with and coach Partner supervisors, anticipate the needs of and effectively respond to supervisors managing student workers at Partners. Take the lead on all regular communication with supervisors and students within the portfolio, which will include conducting site visits/check-in calls twice yearly. Provide resources to share best practices and monitor the progress of Partner supervisors and students in order to ensure placement success. Manage all aspects of partnerships within the portfolio in a solution-oriented, supportive way, demonstrating excellent customer service to Partners and students; always looking for opportunities to deepen professional relationships. Closely monitor student performance evaluation feedback and implement interventions with students.

? Operations: Ensure CIP staffing plans are created, implemented, and edited as needed

throughout the year; participate in the staffing plan, which will include some early morning or evening shifts throughout the week and involve student-facing roles. Work in close collaboration with the staff focused on transportation to ensure the safe, effective, and appropriately staffed transportation program. Ensure compliance with the Department of Labor and state regulations, which includes student and Partner safety training, Partner site visits and check-in calls, student employment files (work permits, I9s, family agreements, etc), and Partner agreements. Work closely with the Director of Finance to plan and execute the annual department budget; work with the President to build revenue forecasts.

? Collaboration: Work closely with the President to execute a shared vision of student success; jointly explore and support connections between student learning in the classroom and the workplace. Lead interdepartmental collaboration efforts with admissions, counseling, academics, advancement, finance, operations, etc. (examples below)

¦ Admissions: policy development, CIP information sharing, candidate interviewing/screening 

¦ Assistant Principal: coordinate preventative and reactive behavior support strategies and respond to significant behavioral incidents impacting CIP

¦ Counseling: ensure CIP is represented in social-emotional support and academic intervention 

¦ Academics: work in close coordination with the Principal and members of the Academic Leadership Team on calendar coordination, space usage, shared student success areas, and student

enrollment discussions

¦ Advancement: shared stakeholder stewardship, event fundraising

¦ HR, Finance & Operations: Partner billing/collections, budgeting, revenue forecasting, vehicle maintenance, event support, urgent HR situations


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Confidentiality regarding school, CIP partners, and student matters 
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft & G-Suite database software; spreadsheet software; word processing software; electronic mail software; and presentation software. Familiarity with Salesforce or another customer relationship management software.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, leadership, or related field. Master's degree preferred. 

Experience:

  • Experience working in education or business setting, particularly with high school students in an urban or Catholic school setting

Certifications and Training:

  • Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 60 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment.
