About the Physical Education Department at Presentation High School
The PE department of Presentation knows that exercise is key to the development of a healthy lifestyle, and we challenge students to keep fit physically, mentally, and emotionally. We are seeking to evolve the nature of our curriculum to reflect the broader field of health and wellness.
Position Summary
Teaching 5 sections of Health: Wellness & Prevention, a 10th-grade course that educates students on healthy lifestyle choices—including nutrition, mental and emotional well-being, and risk behaviors—while incorporating daily physical activity. Students also become CPR certified as part of the curriculum. The position also includes 2 sections of Panther Bootcamp, a PE elective open to grades 9–12 that emphasizes strength training, safe use of equipment, and foundational knowledge in nutrition, anatomy, and injury prevention, all while encouraging students to build confidence in the weight room.
This position could be expanded by adding 2 sections of Yoga to make it a .9 FTE based on certification or experience.
Duties and Specific Responsibilities
- Model for students the Catholic mission and values of Presentation High School
- Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to high school students.
- Devise a system of classroom order and discipline that contributes to the learning of all students.
- Create meaningful connections with students through culturally responsive teaching.
- Utilize provided lesson plans to deliver dynamic and engaging lessons and assignments using Universal Design for Learning and other engaging pedagogical strategies.
- Model a spirit of innovation, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
- Be available to students who need assistance.
- Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy, and technology.
- Strong desire for this position to contribute to the coaching staff at Presentation.
Education & Experience
- B.A. degree, single-subject teaching credential, or Master's Degree in the subject area
- Relevant teaching or coaching experience, preferably 5 or more years at the high school level.

- Available and willing to work on occasional co-curricular events, including overnight field trips.
