Job Description

Scope – Purpose of the position 

The purpose of this position is to perform various job roles in a rotation, communication with line conductor to ensure any deviations of product that are detected are reported in a timely manner. The role includes sanitation of the line and area.


Responsibilities

The packaging operator: 

- Sustains a quality product from reception to pushing area, to end function of palletizing a neat and orderly pallet.  

- Verifies visually product quality, date code present and accurate, etc.

- Maintains accuracy of packing sheets for traceability and to ensure count is correct 

- Reports ALL quality and safety concerns to the reporting manager or member of management team not limited but including unknown visitors, pest control, expiration or production quality in question, sanitation, etc. 

- Assists in downtime periods with rework, corrugate, labeling, waste removal, etc. 

- Works with maintenance/QA to ensure product and equipment meet standards 

In addition to the specific duties outlined, you may be required to perform other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by your manager. These tasks will be relevant to your role and within the scope of your area of expertise.

Requirements

- High school/GED diploma is required 

- Strong verbal and written communication skills; maintain strong communication with other areas and departments. Skills: 

- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in production processes. 

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment, maintaining efficiency under time constraints.  

- Proficient in basic math (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication) for data recording. 

- Basic understanding of production processes or willingness to learn technical skills related to food manufacturing

- One year of experience in production or food manufacturing is preferred.

- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb (including stairs/ladders). 

- Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. 

- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

- Physical dexterity necessary to handle supplies, machine parts and tools. 

- Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
