Overtown Youth Center is seeking a passionate and creative Digital Art Teacher to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual who is dedicated to inspiring young artists and fostering creativity in students from grades K-12. As the Art Instructor, you will provide a comprehensive, engaging art curriculum that empowers students to express themselves through a variety of artistic mediums. What you would do:
- Provide enrichment instruction in a creative art and/or digital form.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, creative art curriculum that aligns with learning goals for students from grades K-12.
- Provide enrichment instruction in diverse art forms such as drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, fashion design, graphic design, and more.
- Introduce and teach various artistic techniques and concepts to help students grow their artistic skills.
- Select and maintain art materials and supplies, including pencils, pens, charcoal, brushes, paints, clay, and other materials necessary for classroom instruction.
- Create a well-organized and resourceful classroom environment where students can access art materials and equipment.
- Foster an environment where students are encouraged to explore different artistic approaches and traditions while expressing their unique perspectives.
- Organize art exhibitions and displays to showcase student artwork, helping students develop portfolios and gain confidence in their artistic abilities.
- Engage and manage students of various age groups and skill levels, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported in their artistic growth.
- Assist with supervising students during field trips, events, and other activities, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Work closely with volunteers, partners, and staff to create a collaborative and positive learning environment.
- Provide mentorship, counseling, and emotional support to students, fostering social inclusion and personal development.
Who we’re looking for:
- Experienced art instructor with a background in teaching various art forms (drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design).
- Passionate about the arts and helping students grow their creative skills.
- Strong classroom management and ability to engage students at all levels.
- Skilled in setting clear goals and providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Experience working with diverse student groups (grades K-12).
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, staff, and partners.
- Organized with the ability to manage art materials, equipment, and classroom setups.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing student and organizational needs.
- Team-oriented, able to build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Willing to work evenings or weekends for special events or exhibitions.
