Monday - Friday 8:30am-4:00pm

Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a private, non-profit organization supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager to support our DSO day program. The ideal candidate requires a background and passion in supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least two years working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Management experience is a nice to have.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least age 18.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to obtain PPE driving license.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the manager in overseeing daily operations of the program, meeting all company and state of CT policies and regulations.
  • Assist in overseeing staff and scheduling for adequate coverage.
  • Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals’ goals and plans.
  • Provide direct care as needed.
  • Participate in various meetings, programmatic and business meetings as requested.
  • Provide safe and nurturing environment where Individuals are treated with dignity and respect, can exercise their rights and responsibilities and are protected from abuse or neglect.
  • Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.  
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work cooperatively with all BARC employees, individuals served, families, supervisors, and other providers or professionals. 
  • Willing and able to complete all essential responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of computers.

Physical Efforts:

  •  May include extended periods of standing, sitting, walking with occasional periods of stooping, crouching, kneeling.
  • Positions may require the ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds, push/pull varying weight (wheelchairs) or have to safely transfer ~35 pounds.
