Job Summary
Peer Supports work closely with the entire treatment team to provide high quality services to the clients we serve at Axiom Care. Those in this role provide direct services including facilitating groups, one on one and other therapeutic interventions within their scope sharing lived experiences. Indirect service includes attending clinical oversight, staffing, other meetings as needed, and completing all clinical documentation by the end of each shift.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide ongoing encouragement, validation, and support to clients to aid them in working toward their individualized recovery goals.
• Welcomes and assists client with adjusting to residential program and preventing unplanned discharges.
• Facilitate groups such as life skills and recovery support groups.
• Facilitates after hours admissions and discharges working with client and completing appropriate notification to interdisciplinary team and documentation in electronic medical record.
• Intervene with de-escalation, AMA blocking, safety planning, and emergency response protocol to crisis situations.
• Utilize CBT, motivational interviewing, positive psychology, trauma informed care and other evidenced based techniques within scope to help clients achieve their treatment goals.
• Educate clients on harm reduction strategies.
• Transport clients as needed.
• Assist in the collection of client breathalyzer readings and/or urine drug screening.
• Promotes inclusion through Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Service Standards (CLAS).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members client progress, needs, and barriers.
• Always maintain strict adherence to all ethical standards and legal requirements.
• Challenge individuals to explore their strengths and overcome obstacles.
• Secure client information per HIPAA and CFR42 part 2 standards
• Attend mandatory clinical supervision twice per month.
• Attend mandatory treatment team staffing daily or other meetings as requested.
• Perform other related tasks and projects as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Demonstrate strong active listening skills to ensure people feel heard.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, their loved ones, and other professionals.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Working knowledge of twelve step programs of recovery
• Experience in working with diverse population and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Experience with working with Native American population preferred.
• Understanding, training, and application of evidence-based practices
• Negative TB Test results within the past 12 months.
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Strict adherence to ethical treatment standards
• Strong time management skills
Qualification Preferences
• High School Diploma or GED
• Current and valid Peer Support Certification (Required)
• Experience with group facilitation
• Current Arizona Drivers License and a current satisfactory 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Lived experience and at least 1 year in recovery
