LOCATION: Wayne County Healthy Communities - Hamtramck, MI 48212


POSITION SUMMARY: The Mental Health Therapist will provide high-quality, evidence-based mental health services to individuals, couples, and/or groups. The therapist will assess, diagnose, and treat mental and emotional disorders, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to support holistic client care.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Conduct intake assessments, mental health evaluations, and diagnostic interviews.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments and client goals.
  • Provide individual, group, and/or family therapy sessions using evidence-based modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-informed care).
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with other providers, case managers, and support networks to coordinate care.
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when necessary.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision and professional development activities.
  • Help clients deal with issues such as addiction, abuse, or mental illness. 
  • Connect clients and families to relevant community resources and programs.
  • Provide psychoeducation to clients and families on mental health conditions, treatments, and coping strategies.
  • Provide interventions to remove psychosocial barriers to health and wellness. 
  • Advocate for clients and participate in the development of programs that improve access and equity.
  • Develop and maintain educational materials for clients and caregivers.
  • provide close monitoring of patients through follow up contacts and coordinate services with other providers as necessary. 
  • Manage an active caseload and contribute to ongoing case conferences and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in mental health care through continuing education and training/conferences. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
  • Strong observational, analytical, and documentation abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral. 
  • Ability to engage and motivate clients toward behavioral and emotional change
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Ability to both lead and follow in a team environment. 
  • Ability to connect clients to community resources. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field (REQUIRED).
  • Current state licensure (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent) (REQUIRED).
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a range of mental health conditions.
  • Experience with mental health and substance abuse preferred. 
  • Experience in community social services and/or health care. 
  • Bilingual preferred

  

Salary: $65,000 - $79,000 (based on experience & qualifications)
