The Alfond Youth & Community Center (AYCC) is seeking a highly organized and motivated Grant Writer & Project Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in securing funding for our programs by researching, writing, and tracking grant applications, as well as assisting with donor management and event planning. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Grant Writing & Assistance
- Research appropriate grant opportunities.
- Fulfill and complete grant application requirements and be successful in acquiring grant awards.
- Help develop program and project narratives as requested.
- Follow departmental methodology for implementation and tracking grant data, including outcomes.
- Maintain integrity of grant awards by ensuring that grant requirements are met.
- Work with Program Directors to ensure grant reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Work with Grants Team to assist with editing all grant submissions so that every proposal is reviewed by at least two team members.
Project Assistance
- Prepare and distribute communication & correspondence as requested such as “thank you” notes, invitations, AYCC updates, etc.
- Run and prepare reports from the donor management system.
- Handle confidential and non-routine information.
- In collaboration with the Sr. Director, Philanthropy & Government Relations, research and identify prospective new donors and proactively initiate sponsorship and funding.
- Integral member of the special event team; Coordinate and schedule event planning meetings with identified event team.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of special events and special event budget management.
- Coordinate with the Volunteer Manager to secure volunteers to assist with mailings (stuffing, sealing, labelling, etc.) and events (registration, set-up, take-down, etc.).
- Process invoices for payment in a timely manner; allocated to the correct department/fund.
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred; must include heavy concentration in writing and communication skills.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior grant writing experience is preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of administrative experience.
- Proven experience in writing internal & external communications. A writing sample may be required.
- Event planning & support experience preferable
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office required.

WORK SCEHDULE:
- Full-time at 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm; occasional nights and weekends
