Position Summary:
The Finance Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring financial operations run smoothly directly impacting the satisfaction and retention of our members. Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Finance Assistant provides administrative support to the Finance department by managing the registration and payment process for membership, Girl Scout camp, other events, and our member financial assistance program.
What You’ll Do
- Provide member and event registration system support to Girl Scout members by applying payments and processing cancellations, refunds, and transfers through routine data entry tasks.
- Evaluate and process financial assistance requests in accordance with internal policies, ensuring timely approvals or denials within the registration system.
- Generate reports and summarize financial assistance provided to members by type and county for internal managers and donors.
- Provide quality customer service by addressing inquiries promptly, resolving issues effectively and providing timely communication and support.
- Provide administrative support to the finance department and assist with special projects as requested.
- Exercise discretion when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
- Work and communicate effectively (verbal, written, in person and/or over the telephone) with staff, volunteers and members from diverse backgrounds.
- Manage multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines and facilitate projects to their thorough and timely completion.
- Use strong critical thinking skills to prioritize and manage payments to ensure accuracy and comply with financial processes.
Who You Are and Keys to Success:
- An associate degree or a minimum of two years of experience in an office setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, Outlook, Excel and Word. Preferred experience with Salesforce and Hybris. Adaptable to emerging technology.
- Have knowledge of accounting software (MIP Abila) a plus.
- Promptly and accurately enter data.
- Display integrity and ethical behavior while maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of the role to ensure compliance with privacy standards.
- Responsive to customers’ needs through effective time management, attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Establish goals, prioritize work, and determine daily activities for the achievement of those goals.

- Function well in a diverse team and network including communicating, delegating and supporting others.
- Willing to subscribe to the Girl Scout philosophy and program standards and enroll as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a membership fee annually.
- Access to dependable transportation required. A valid driver’s license and use of your own vehicle are preferred. If so, you must comply with the council’s automobile insurance policy limits and have a driving record that meets the requirements of the council’s business auto insurance carrier. If you are unable to drive, a transportation plan must be submitted and approved prior to an official offer being made.
- The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of time, occasionally required to stand for long periods, and operate office equipment manually. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
