The Opportunity
As a Senior Accountant, Payments at Catalis, you will be responsible for day-to-day critical accounting functions including daily balancing and reconciliations, cash applications, account research and analyses, and ensuring the accuracy of the payments balance sheet. This role is instrumental in ensuring month-end cash, receivables, pass-through liabilities, revenue and expense are fully balanced and reconciled. This role requires strong attention to detail and is best suited for a motivated team-player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment. Experience in merchant services or payments industry is a must, and proficiency with NetSuite, Excel, and reconciliations tools are highly preferred.
This role is hybrid based in our Alpharetta, GA office.
What You Will Do
- Perform daily and month-end closing process for all payment processing related functions, including reconciling restricted cash, settlement receivables and liabilities, interchange and other processing costs, analyzing results and trends, and trouble-shooting close related issues
- Implement streamlined daily balancing and reconciliations procedures ensuring agreement of internal and third party generated payment reporting
- Implement streamlined payments-related commission calculation processes ensuring accuracy and alignment with existing agreements
- Cross-functional partnership with the Payments Operational Accounting team to address their needs and ensure alignment in daily balancing activities
- Record daily cash transactions and cash applications
- Analyze, research, and resolve inconsistencies and discrepancies including reviewing account statements for accuracy
- Review and prepare assigned journal entries and reconciliation
- Prepare variance analysis for assigned accounts
- Maintain comprehensive supporting workpapers for assigned balances, trends and accounts
- Assist the Controllership with consolidated US GAAP annual audit
- Other duties as assigned
What You Will Need to Succeed
- 2+ years of experience in card-acquiring / merchant processing / payments or equivalent industry
- CPA or CPA track
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent experience
- In-depth experience with end-to-end payment processing and settlement functions
- Demonstrated ability to think through complex processes and implement efficiencies
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, verbal and written communications skills, and strong customer service orientation
- Experience with NetSuite
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- A willingness to learn and a tenacity to improve current processes
