Director of Student Support
Description

Saint Matthew School is seeking a certified Learning Specialist to serve as the Director of Student Support, leading a small team of specialists dedicated to supporting diverse learners across our school community. The ideal candidate is an experienced educator who thrives in collaborative environments and is skilled in implementing a variety of instructional and support strategies. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of Learning Specialists in delivering high-quality services. 
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and external professionals to ensure cohesive support for students. 
  • Design and oversee remediation plans tailored to individual learning profiles. 
  • Provide both direct services (e.g., individualized instruction) and indirect support (e.g., consultation with teachers) for students with learning differences. 
  • Facilitate effective communication and build strong relationships across departments. 
  • Guide faculty in implementing accommodations and differentiated instructional strategies. 
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of support interventions and adjust as needed.
  • Conducts student support meetings, planning agendas and being accountable with the follow-up and best next steps, parent communication, etc.
Requirements

 

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree/Licensure in Special Education. 
  • Significant classroom teaching experience across multiple age groups and educational settings. 
  • Experience interpreting psychoeducational evaluations and making decisions/plans for students based on that data.  
  • Experience with one to one instruction, small group instruction and itinerant (push in) instruction and support.
  • Demonstrated success using varied instructional approaches, including differentiated instruction and remediation. 
  • Deep understanding of learning differences, executive functioning, and academic support frameworks. 
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and inspire a team. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for and/or collaborating with public school student support (understanding of progress monitoring, response to intervention, data collection, interpreting/writing an IEP/service plan/support plan, collaborating with parents, teachers, admin and other stakeholders.)
  • Familiarity with educational testing, documentation, and legal accommodations. 
  • Experience creating and leading academic support programs and instructional strategies. 
  •  Skilled in developing and managing learning support documentation, including accommodation plans and evaluation summaries.
