About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Shop Manager to lead and oversee all operations within our machine shop. This role requires a hands-on leader with a solid background in machining, CNC programming, metal fabrication, and automation, coupled with proven experience in team supervision and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day machine shop operations to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Lead and support a team of machinists, CNC operators, and fabrication technicians.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure accurate blueprint interpretation and manufacturing execution.
  • Develop and implement shop floor procedures to boost productivity, efficiency, and quality.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and coordinate necessary repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain and manage inventory of raw materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate staff to improve performance and technical capabilities.
  • Identify and resolve workflow inefficiencies and quality concerns.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPI's) including throughput, scrap rate, and machine downtime.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.
  • Assess and recommend capital investments and automation solutions.

  

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in machining and metal fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or      management role.
  • Expertise in CNC programming, machining processes, tooling, and automation equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measuring tools.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a diverse team.
  • Experience with steel products and architectural metalwork is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and shop management software.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety practices

 

Requirements

  

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical certification or degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred 

  

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the shop floor for extended periods.
  • Use of hands and arms to operate tools, handle parts, and perform shop tasks.
  • Must occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to typical machine shop conditions including varying temperatures, noise, dust, and fumes.
