Description

General Summary: Responsible for implementing the day-to-day Resident activities for Clatsop Retirement Village.  Designed to fulfill a variety of needs, levels of care, and interests based on each individual’s history and meaningful life events.  Responsible for Resident satisfaction and retention through development and management of life enrichment programs. Act as a positive personal representative for the facility in all areas, to the public and to Residents, employees, visitors and in other activities related to the promotion of the organization. Work effectively as part of a team by sharing ideas, helping others develop ideas and evaluating proposed courses of action.


Job Functions:

  • Plan, coordinates and implements the Resident’s  activities, to meet physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual and social needs.
  • Work closely with the Department Heads to coordinate space, equipment, food and transportation for planned events and      activities.
  • Maintain a safe activities program, including driving, events, space, planning, mobility, etc.
  • Ensure orientation and training is done for any family member, employee, or volunteer assisting in any part of an event or      activity or with any Resident in your care.
  • Act as a liaison between residents and the Administrator, RN or the Resident Care Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the smooth, efficient and positive operation of planned events.
  • Responsible for Resident satisfaction and retention through development of appropriate and timely activities that meet the      needs of the Resident population.
  • Evaluate the capabilities, needs and interest of new Residents and periodically of each Resident.
  • Decorate the common areas appropriately for the time and season.
  • Maintain and work within the department budget.
  • Communicate upcoming events and activities in a variety of ways, i.e. newsletters, flyers, announcements, website, bulletin boards and one on one communications.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees, management, Residents and their families.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in all aspects of your day-to-day activities and represent the organization in a positive light during all activities.
  • Other tasks assigned by the Administrator.
  • Participate in on site trainings as requested.
  • Assist as needed with marketing events.
  • Regular day to day care of vehicles - keep clean, obtain fuel as necessary and report issues to maintenance.
  • Maintain vehicle check out log and keys in assigned location.
  • Become a full participant in the success of the organization through customer service, promotion and recruitment of new      residents.
  • Perform errands as directed by management.

Job Conditions:

·       This job may require hours that exceed 40 per week and a flexibility of hours (i.e. weekends, nights, covering for absent co-workers)


Physical Demands:

·       Ability to regularly walk, stand, bend, stoop or sit for extended periods of time

·       Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or other wise move objects weighing up to 50lbs

·       Ability to use office equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, i.e. keyboarding

·       Work for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail and accuracy

·       Work for sustained periods of time at a computer station or while driving long distances

·       Ability to communicate with various contacts via radios and phones

·       Ability to work under pressure

·       Ability to transfer and meet physical needs of Residents when Caregivers are not available

·       Ability to load and unload supplies, walkers, wheelchairs, full coolers, boxes of ceramics, etc. on and off of the van/bus and to destination

·       Ability to drive and work outside in inclement weather

Specific Skills:

·       Excellent interpersonal skills with those inside and outside the organization including residents, their families, volunteers, management, civic organizations, community and agencies

·       Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities

·       Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

·       Knowledge of principles and practices of Residents’ needs

·       Ability to assist with budget development for the department

·       Skill in problem solving, and the ability to remain poised in emergency situations

·       Ability to understand and work under a variety of situations in a positive constructive manner

·       Ability to be creative and innovative in creative activities techniques

·       Ability to be organized, well prepared, set and meet deadlines

·       Ability to do some daily tasks via computer, i.e. emails, calendars, flyers, etc.

·       Ability to continue education in the industry and make sure new programs are developed to meet the changing demographics in resident population.


Education and/or Experience:

·       High school diploma or equivalent.

·       One or more years of prior industry experience preferred

·       Valid Oregon driver's license

·       Ability to get a CDL if requested

Salary Description
$22/hour starting salary DOE
