Systems Engineer
Description

Provide advanced systems engineering support for Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS) programs at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division. Lead complex engineering analyses, design evaluations, and system integration efforts for critical Navy mine countermeasure systems, including Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs) and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs). Support both research and development activities and in-service engineering functions for operational fleet systems. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Conduct requirements analysis, functional analysis, allocation, and system validation and verification for UMS programs 
  • Perform system analysis and control, including work breakdown structures, configuration management, and technical reviews 
  • Lead trade studies, modeling and simulation activities, and risk management assessments 
  • Develop product improvement strategies and oversee system integration activities 
  • Support program acquisition documentation development and technical data package preparation 
  • Review engineering designs, drawings, and engineering change proposals for impact on system performance, safety, and logistics 
  • Conduct scientific and engineering analyses to investigate problems and develop alternative technical approaches 
  • Support Model-Based System Engineering initiatives using tools such as MagicDraw 
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and configuration control board activities 
  • Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify design defects and recommend improvements 
  • Support test and evaluation activities, including test plan development and data analysis 
  • Interface with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and government stakeholders 
Requirements


Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Ocean, or related engineering discipline) 

Experience: 

  • Nine (9) years of civilian or military professional experience providing engineering support of defense weapon and sensor systems 
  • Demonstrated experience in requirements analysis, functional analysis and allocation, system validation and verification 
  • Experience with system analysis and control, including work breakdown structures, configuration management, technical reviews, trade studies, modeling and simulation, metrics, and risk management 
  • Experience with Mine warfare systems and technologies

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience with tools like MagicDraw 
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD specifications and DoD engineering standards 
  • Experience with mine countermeasure systems (AQS-20, Knifefish, MHUs, MCM USV) 
  • Systems engineering certification (INCOSE CSEP) 
  • Experience with test and evaluation processes 
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity requirements for defense systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to work in office, laboratory, and marine environments 
  • Capability to participate in at-sea testing and evaluation activities 
  • Ability to work extended hours during critical test events and project milestones 
  • Physical capability to access shipboard facilities and marine testing platforms 
  • Ability to lift and handle technical equipment up to 50 pounds 

WORK LOCATION 

Primary Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, Panama City, FL 

Additional Locations: Travel to various CONUS and OCONUS Navy installations, contractor facilities, and test sites.
