Braze Lead - 2nd Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Brazer is responsible for performing all tasks involved in the brazing of standard and non-standard assemblies and subassemblies and will assist the Supervisor in daily production, first part validation, and training of associates. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a safety leader throughout the plant and ensure the deployment of a safe and healthy work environment for all team members.
  • Maintain positive relationships with team members for the purpose of work coordination, instruction, training, and evaluating.  
  • Promote teamwork between braze team and other production teams.  
  • Stay aware of daily production requirements in order to prioritize, communicate, and coordinate within braze team to meet deadlines and ship dates.    
  • Attend daily production meetings to be informed of and to relay pertinent production information on and between shifts.  
  • Possess complete knowledge and understanding of quality system, processes, and standards; position will assist and train others on quality requirements, as necessary.
  • Priorities will vary among existing product, new product development, assisting brazers at multiple stations, filling in or training other team members.  
  • Keep Supervisor informed of any production, safety, or equipment concerns and changes as they occur.
  • Perform minor repairs on braze tools and troubleshoot malfunctions when necessary.  
  • Responsible for the 5S housekeeping system within the assigned work areas. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work involves lifting materials and product up to 50 pounds. 
  • Work involves standing, walking, and lifting during shift schedule.
  • Work involves holding a brazing torch steady at approximate shoulder height
  • Exposure to heat from brazing torch.
  • Exposure to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable or hazardous.
  • Noise level is normal for a manufacturing environment.


SCHEDULE

  • Regular - Monday - Friday 2:15 pm - 11:00 pm
  • Overtime - Monday - Friday 2:15 pm - 1:00 am, rotating Saturday 11:45 am - 8:00 pm
  • MUST be able to train on 1st shift
Requirements

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing and brazing practices for quality, efficiency, and safety purposes.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must have thorough knowledge of brazing functions and be able to braze various components
  • Must be able to read and interpret work routers
  • Must serve as first part validator and be able to visually inspect parts effectively for quality purposes.  
  • Must possess appropriate reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required; ability to work in standing position, often holding brazing torch steady at approximate shoulder height, throughout shift.
  • Must be able to work various shifts and overtime, including weekends.
  • Must possess planning and organizational skills and the ability to follow and implement written or oral instructions.  
  • Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with all organization levels.
