 Ministerial Character

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish of St. Catherine of Siena Church which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Positions employed at St. Catherine of Siena Church help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the Pastor in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.


Key Responsibilities:

  

  • As an integral part of your ministry for the Church as carried out in this position, support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Catherine of Siena Church in both your professional and personal life.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Continuously grow in your ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
  • Implement and adapt lesson plans to meet the developmental needs of children aged 2–5.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Demonstrate God's love through interactive play, storytelling, and positive guidance.
  • Engage actively with children, including participating in floor activities and outdoor play.
  • Collaborate with permanent staff to ensure continuity of care and education.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with children, parents, and staff members.
  • Ensure compliance with all school policies and state regulations regarding child safety and well-being.


Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; coursework in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children in a professional setting is preferred.
  • Ability to create a warm and nurturing environment that supports children's spiritual and developmental growth.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to engage with children at their level, including sitting on the floor and participating in active play.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and any other required screenings. 
  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.

Hours:

  • Flexible hours - during a staff absence.
  • 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM
  • Any day Monday through Thursday
