Summary


The primary responsibility of the Payroll Specialist is to ensure accurate and punctual processing of the company's bi-weekly payroll. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, administrative and communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accuracy of payroll including timecard hours, time off requests, deductions and taxes and make corrections as necessary.
  • Process regular payroll information on a bi-weekly basis, as well as bonuses and off-cycle checks when necessary
  • Prepare payroll reports for distribution to management
  • Prepare requested documents and files for annual external financial and workers compensation audits
  • Stay abreast of payroll compliance issues and payroll system upgrades, and apply changes as appropriate
  • Respond to inquiries pertaining to payroll calculations, checks, payroll policies and procedures and related matters
  • Maintain accounting of time off balances
  • Verify, distribute and answer inquiries regarding employee W2 forms
  • Identify process efficiencies and recommend needed changes
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, both internal and external




Requirements

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field a plus.

Experience:

  • Two years of payroll experience, including experience processing payroll utilizing a third-party payroll system. 
  • Experience with Paylocity a plus.
  • An equivalent combination of education, work experience and training may be considered.

Skills:

  • Proficient computer software skills, including Excel, Outlook and payroll software
  • Must be trustworthy with highly confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
