Operations and Maintenance Site Technician

Job Summary:

The Site Technician performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbine generators and balance-of-plant systems at a 30MW wind farm O&M site. This role supports daily operations to ensure turbine availability and optimal site performance.


Job Responsibilities:

· Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine equipment.

· Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.

· Assist with SCADA system monitoring and turbine resets.

· Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), fall protection, and other safety procedures.

· Participate in routine inspections, reporting, and work order completion.

· Support inventory tracking, parts requests, and vendor coordination.


Requirements

  

Experience and education

· Technical certificate or associate degree in wind energy, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred.

· GWO BTT/BST preferred.

· 1–3 years of experience working with wind turbines or heavy industrial equipment.

· Comfortable working at heights and in variable weather conditions.

· Basic computer skills and SCADA system familiarity.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a small onsite team.

· Valid driver’s license.


Physical Requirements:

· Climbing: Ability to climb wind turbine towers up to 300 feet multiple times per day.

· Lifting: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance.

· Standing & Walking: Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving around uneven or sloped terrain.

· Reaching & Bending: Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching overhead and at shoulder level.

· Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and ability to use hand tools and electrical testing equipment.

· Balance & Agility: Ability to maintain balance and coordination while climbing ladders, working at heights, or in confined spaces.

· Weather Exposure: Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions, including wind, rain, snow, and heat.

· Protective Equipment: Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, gloves, fall protection harnesses, and respirators, as needed.

· Work Schedule Flexibility: Capable of working extended shifts, weekends, holidays, and being on-call in response to site needs or emergency maintenance.
