JOB SUMMARY:


 The   Dental Front Desk Coordinator is the glue that holds the Dental practice together. They are responsible for managing all of the day-to-day operations of their practice, from scheduling appointments to handling billing and insurance issues. The coordinator may also be tasked with hiring, training, and supervising other staff members in their practice. This individual must be self-motivated, highly organized, a good communicator, and have the talent to inspire others.

Summary of General Duties:

  • Provides support to the Dentist by managing his or her schedule and making appointments with clients
  • Schedules client appointments, performs administrative tasks such as answering phones or greeting clients in the waiting room, and maintaining medical records for each client
  • Manages insurance claims and processes payments from insurance companies on behalf of the Dentist
  • Performs clerical tasks such as typing correspondence, filing client records, and ordering supplies
  • Processes claims for reimbursement from third party payers such as insurance companies or governmental agencies
  • Coordinates the delivery of Dental services with other members of the Staff including the Dentist, Hygienist, and Dental Assistants
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experienced in working with culturally diverse populations
  • Must have great communication skills, (writing, spelling, listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
  • Must have strong computer and database system skills, and have a positive, friendly and helpful demeanor
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and warm personality
  • Must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment and paying attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality at all times
  • Should have exceptional leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedicated to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Solid understanding of dental billing and insurance procedures.

Degrees/licensure 

  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of three years of  Dental Front Desk Coordinator experience is required.
  • An Associate’s Degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field is preferred. 
  • Dentrix experience is also preferred.
  • Previous experience with the HIV and/or Infectious Disease Specialty is also preferred.
