Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The individual in this position manages all aspects of the Branch Lending Portfolio to include traveling to outlying areas and building relationships with realtors to solicit new mortgage business as well as interviewing loan applicants and assisting them in all phases of the loan process as needed. This position has high customer contact and is expected to be consistently visible in the community; therefore, strong community relationship building skills are a dominant component of the job.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Travel to new market areas to solicit new mortgage business.
  • Take a sales-oriented approach to customer service.
  • Personally interview applicants with interest in any of our loan products.
  • Possess the qualities needed to fulfill a supervisory and or leadership role.
  • Manage the application process (from origination to closing).
  • Be proficient at presenting accurate information on loan applications.
  • Possess a strong familiarity with analyzing income and reviewing appraisal reports.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of comfort with explaining loan decisions to applicants. 
  • Consistent focus on setting and adjusting priorities. 
  • Correspond with customers, applicants and creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.
  • Display a consistent effort to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Strong level of comfort with analyzing various types of self-employment income.
  • Closely review and analyze documentation for property/borrower releases.
  • Moderate understanding of commercial loan products and analyses.
  • Understand and explain details of loan products. 
  • Discuss interest rates, repayment terms, and product options with customers.
  • Possess the creative ability to assist applicants with options in the event the original request cannot be granted.
  • Assist and mentor Relationship Bankers and Universal Bankers in all phases of the loan process.
  • Completion of all mandatory training

Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

The foundation of this position is to serve the external lending customer, realtors, the public, the community, as well as the internal customers of the Bank in meeting their lending needs. This position requires strong customer service and sales skills and an aptitude that will contribute to the overall marketing effort of the Bank. This position requires a strong understanding and recognition of the need to interact with branch staff to achieve common goals. An enthusiastic willingness to suggest upgrades and improvements to lending products and services is encouraged. This position requires regular participation with community organizations and related projects.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:


Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.


Experience

  • Three to five years’ mortgage lending experience or extensive experience in related industry.


Skills

  • Solid understanding and knowledge of bank loan products and services.
  • A desire to develop and utilize cross-selling, management, and organizational skills.
  • A high degree of comfort with Excel workbook creation and spreadsheet calculations.
