We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team in a hybrid role, alternating weekly between on-site (Monday through Friday) and remote work. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing for both office and hospital procedures within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities include processing patient information, analyzing medical documentation, verifying insurance coverage, and
identifying opportunities to improve billing efficiency. The Billing Specialist will also interact with patients and external partners, requiring a strong focus on exceptional customer service and effective, compassionate communication.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, a strong attention to detail, and a high level of dependability. Experience in a medical or healthcare setting is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processes daily billing and payments for multiple external clients, including charge entry, claim submission, and in-person patient payment collection.
- Verifies insurance coverage and patient benefits to ensure accurate and timely billing, while auditing claims for completeness and accuracy before submission.
- Maintains accurate demographic and billing data, ensuring all necessary information is entered for proper insurance claim processing.
- Communicates billing updates and issues to the Billing Services Supervisor and contributes to process improvement efforts.
- Adheres to HIPAA regulations and participates in ongoing training and educational workshops to stay current with billing guidelines and compliance standards.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of medical billing experience in a clinical or office setting
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent customer service skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Clear and effective communication abilities
