Description
As Controller, you will oversee all accounting functions and ensure the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the delivery of actionable insights to leadership. Reporting directly to the President, you’ll serve as a strategic partner to company leadership—guiding planning, budgeting, and forecasting while supporting key operational and financial decisions.
Requirements
Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations
- Prepare and analyze internal financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain, reconcile, and manage general ledger accounts, including:
- Accounts receivable/payable
- Prepaid expenses, accruals, depreciation
- Shop & Assembly cost reclassifications
- Landed cost clearing, bank loans, and tax estimates
- Generate and post manual journal entries (e.g., payroll, depreciation, reclassifications).
- Manage fixed assets and monthly depreciation using Sage Fixed Assets.
- Maintain and update the chart of accounts and reporting templates.
- Review monthly credit card transactions, wire payments, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with federal and state tax reporting requirements.
- Process and submit annual state and federal reports and quarterly income tax payments.
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Collaborate with leadership on business plans, annual budgets, and financial projections.
- Support financial forecasting and cost modeling for operations and growth initiatives.
- Assist in decision-making related to landed cost drivers, production rates, and freight costs.
- Prepare documentation and assist with annual tax filings in partnership with external CPA firm.
- Manage banking relationships, oversee cash investments, and monitor liquidity.
- Provide expertise in foreign exchange risk management, including use of forward contracts, options, and spot purchases.
Team Leadership & Department Oversight
- Lead and mentor the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax compliance teams.
- Establish efficient workflows and ensure timely completion of financial processes.
- Resolve accounting issues and ensure accuracy in customer credit management, expense reporting, and bank transactions.
- Promote consistency and compliance in documentation and record-keeping practices.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in manufacturing or distribution.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and cost accounting.
- Proficient in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
- Experience in managing banking relationships and foreign exchange risk is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead teams, solve complex problems, and communicate effectively.
- High integrity, analytical mindset, and strong attention to detail.
