Maintenance Technician I
Description


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Diagnose and Perform machine repairs from simple to complex (i.e. CNC Machines, EDM’s and Molded Presses).
  • Perform troubleshooting working with OEM Technicians.
  • Maintenance repairs as needed primarily mechanical and plumbing.
  • Perform basic building repair and maintenance (i.e. HVAC units and exhaust units).
  • Maintain various chemicals for WWT process including caustic soda, de-foamer, water clarification agent, polymer, and release of acid/metals holding tank.
  • Performs water sampling for MMSD
  • With safety personnel, proactively address safety issues, including door switches, trip devices, light curtains, guarding, etc.
  • Dismantle machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas.
  • Remove and replace worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system.
  • Run and/or drop air lines and dust collection pipes where needed as directed by supervisor
  • Grease, vacuum, clean and wash machines and necessary machine parts to ensure safe and continual production.
  • Assist R&D with projects
  • Maintenance repairs as needed primarily mechanical and plumbing
  • Fill out manifest forms (F006) for pick up
  • Label hazardous waste containers
  • Perform other duties and/or functions as assigned or required to ensure Department/Company success.
  • Opening and closing of building on an as needed basis
  • Responding to alarm events (both during work hours and off hours) on an as needed basis
  • Able to work overtime on weekends, holidays as needed.
  • Maintenance of dust collecting system (filter change).
  • Oversee facility building grounds throughout all seasons such as (snow removal, sidewalks/entry ways, salting; maintaining overall appearance of outside of building)
  • Engage with city inspector as needed on facility compliance inspections and address any findings or violations

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Industrial maintenance diploma/certification or similar technical coursework preferred
  • Two to five years of related facility maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of machine codes and manuals, specifications, and standards
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand and utilize technical information
  • Read and understand shop orders, specifications and blueprints
  • Read and utilize inspection and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, protractors, ruler)

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic math skills and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • Preventive Maintenance Software, ManagerPro Plus preferred.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Visual Manufacturing)

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Previous knowledge of carbon products
  • Previous knowledge of set up experience
  • Minimum Intermediate level in lockout/tag out procedures
  • Wear protective clothing as needed

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a manufacturing environment and is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
