ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:

Founded in 1992, After-School All-Stars is a national non-profit organization which provides free, daily afterschool programs to more than 150,000 children in need at 725 school and community sites in 19 chapters across the U.S. Our goals for our All-Stars are the same we have for our own children: to be healthy and active, to graduate high school and go on to college, to find a job that they love and to give back to their communities. We achieve this by identifying and fueling our students' individual passions, tying their interests to tailored academic support, enrichment and health and fitness programming. 


A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY:

After-School All Stars with a budget of $30-$35M, is seeking a results-driven Senior Accountant, a key member of the Finance team, to oversee financial systems, financial reporting and budgeting process of the national organization. Other duties include, managing 3-5 finance analysts/managers, oversee local/state reimbursement process and ensure compliance/policies are up to date. The Senior Accountant will report to the CFO. We are seeking a candidate with 5-7 years of nonprofit accounting experience, CPA highly preferred, Financial Edge highly preferred. Others not encouraged to apply. This is an in-person role in the office in Los Angeles.

• At least 5-7 years of non-profit accounting experience.

• CPA highly preferred and bachelor/master’s degree in business, accounting, or related field (A-133 Single audit experience required).

• Proven experience in financial management.

• Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practical application in the nonprofit sector.

• Compliance orientated.

• Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Flexible and able to adapt to changing position demands.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially a command of Microsoft Excel is required.

• At least 3-5 years of experience with Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred. 

• Pride in self, work and organization with tasks performed at a high level of accuracy.


SALARY AND BENEFITS:

This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary of $75,000-$100,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience of the individual candidate. This role is based in Los Angeles and requires an in-office presence of four days a week, with the option to work remotely on Fridays for a minimum of 40 hours a week with additional hours as needed throughout the year.

Requirements

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Accounting: 

  • Oversees the accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions. Ensures the integrity of the General Ledger  and all other accounting records. Manage G/L, A/R and A/P functions.
  • Prepare and analyze complex financial reports and records across Supported Chapters.
  • Support in preparing financial analysis and reports for National and Supported Chapters
  • Support in preparing revenue projections and forecasting. 
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger and other accounts documents business transaction.
  • Oversee entire Accounts Payable and Corporate Amex program.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process by coordinating the monthly closing. 
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
  • Assist with reconciling all bank accounts, analyze all billing/posting records and accounts receivable.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares financial statements, and other reports to summarize the current and projected financial position for management. 
  • Participates in internal audits of federal contracts/grants management.
  • Identifies and reports the need for implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures; upon approval, establishes, modifies, and coordinates necessary procedural changes.

Finance: 

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of changes in financial position and budget variance analysis. 
  • Assist with budget process for organizational budget.
  • Assist with analyzing and updating financial internal controls as warranted to keep up with changes in federal regulations. 
  • Support Finance team members, as needed throughout the year to ensure the utmost level of service to the network. 

Audit: 

  • Assist with Year-End A-133 Single Audit and Contract Audits.
  • Documenting all relevant accounting processes throughout the year to ensure a timely submission of annual audit requirements. 
  • Provide annual schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation during audit review.
