Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the company's financial operations. This position is responsible for recording financial transactions, preparing accurate financial reports, managing labor reconciliation, and conducting regular balance sheet reconciliations. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Transactions: Accurately record all purchase and sale transactions in the accounting system in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Payroll: Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees ensuring accurate employee data and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- WIP / Labor Cost Reconciliation: Collaborate in the process of reconciling labor entries and truing-up ongoing job WIPs.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts, investigate discrepancies, and ensure financial data integrity.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze financial trends and variances to support business planning and identify opportunities for cost control or efficiency improvements.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments and external auditors to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and effective financial controls.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in construction or service-based industries.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of construction accounting principles (e.g., job costing, work-in-progress reporting).
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- Experience using Accumatica, Sage, Workday (e.g. common ERPs).
- Collaborative mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
