Mission: Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home, education, and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children.

Summary:

The Parenting Coordinator is to provide and coordinate tasks assigned to the Parenting Education Department (PED). The Parenting Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that quantitative and qualitative goals and standards for the PED are met including continued implementation of clinical and evidence based best practices. The Parenting Coordinator will maintain a caseload of Seton Home clients to include parenting education in groups, and individual settings. The Parenting Coordinator will train and collaborate with direct care staff on a regular basis so that all education will be reinforced in daily interactions with the clients. The Parenting Coordinator will ensure documentation for parenting services is completed in a timely manner and reflect appropriate interventions to the clients. Parenting Coordinator serves as a part of the interdisciplinary team that develops and supports the families.

Position Responsibilities:

  • *Serve as point staff person to collect, enter, and communicate program performance to include AAPI-2 scores, ASQ-3, class attendance and other performance measures in internal database as required on time. Alert supervisor when PE does not report data on-time;
  • *Maintain a caseload of individual sessions and/or group classes;
  • *Substitute for Parent Educators as necessary in facilitating parenting groups, individual sessions, and/or developmental screenings;
  • *Create, measure, and update parenting goals and objectives for assigned residents’ Plans of Service, transfer, and discharge summaries;
  • *Maintain continuous communication with appropriate Seton Home staff to discuss resident’s progress in the parenting program;
  • Maintain accurate reports of program performance and parenting budget;
  • Conduct budget projections for grant purposes;
  • Give input to Resource Coordinator on appropriate purchases for parenting needs of clients;
  • Conduct parenting related staff development trainings with staff members;
  • Other duties as assigned by Director, Senior Director or Vice President.

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, human services, child development or social service fields or related field
  • Experience
    • Preferred 2 years’ experience teaching parenting skills to adolescent mothers preferred;
    • Minimum of 1-year employment experience teaching parenting skills to adolescent mothers preferred;
    • Preferred 2 years’ supervisory experience;
    • Minimum of Supervisory Experience 
  • License and Credentials
    • Reliable transportation;
    • Valid driver license;
    • Valid vehicle insurance;
  • Submit to a state and federal background check, Child abuse and neglect registry check, and Tuberculosis screening;
  • Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform essential      duties and responsibilities

Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children;

  • Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection.
  • MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least 4  weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases
  • DTaP or TDap: Complete primary vaccination  series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one TDaP dose in adulthood.
  • Influenza: one dose annually during flu season.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills: 

  • *Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish with regards to reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the spoken language.
  • Working knowledge of TDFPS Minimum Standards, and Office of Refugee Resettlement- Division of Unaccompanied Children's Services National Care Standards;
  • Possess therapeutic sensitivity to the service population cultural and socio-economic characteristics. 
  • Experience with computer software and MS Office (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive); 
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills;

Travel Requirements: 

Travel requirements for the position includes 10% local and 10% overnight.
