Description

The Florida State Fair Authority is seeking dependable and flexible individuals to join our team as On-Call Event Conversion Technicians. This hands-on role is vital to the success of our events, ensuring that venues are properly set up, maintained, and transitioned for a wide variety of activities. From setting stages and moving equipment to maintaining cleanliness and assisting with load-in/load-out operations, you'll be part of the behind-the-scenes team that makes it all happen. SUMMARY

Ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness and facility upkeep for events at the FSFA, including the setting up and breaking down of items for shows.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Facilitate the setting up of stages and chairs.
  2. Support a clean and orderly environment by emptying trash containers, picking up trash, pressure washing bleachers, etc.
  3. Provide support at indoor and outdoor show sites involving load-in, show run, and load-out.
  4. Ensure efficient processes and quality of work for the maintenance of bathroom cleaning, window washing, picking up trash, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.  
  5. Support work at elevated levels of five feet or higher using man lifts, ladders or catwalks.
  6. Facilitate the operation of automatic and manual company vehicles and equipment (Training Available).
  7. Ensure a high level of compliance to safety policies and department protocols are followed and enforced.
  8. Read and interpret work orders or receive verbal instructions to determine work assignments, materials, or equipment needs.
  9. Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
  10. Drive operational excellence by managing the moving of freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas also including loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment (Training Available).
  11. Additional duties as needed.


Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience with small equipment operations and mechanical skills preferred. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds consistently. Valid Driver's License required and must meet company vehicle driving standards.   


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to take direction from management and clients as well as work as part of a team in an event production situation
  • Ability to operate small equipment such as a forklift, scissor lift, and floor scrubber (Training available)
  • Ability to use power tools
  • Strong customer and communication service skills
  • Must maintain a polished appearance during events while working with public
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends with short notice. (In most cases, a 48-hour notice will be provided).
