Description
The McCarthy lab within the Masonic Medical Research Institute (MMRI) in Utica, NY is seeking a research assistant with experience in synthetic chemistry to partake in and support a research program focused on the generation of materials for drug delivery and molecular imaging applications. These materials will be used across diseases to investigate biology and potentially identify new treatment options.
In this role you will:
- Synthesize compounds in support of our research program
- Generate materials for distribution to ongoing collaborations across the country
- Analyze and identify compounds using modern separation and spectroscopic techniques
- Maintain laboratory equipment
This position will be supervised by both the principal investigator and his post-doctoral fellows, and there will be opportunities for the scope of this position to expand beyond the roles listed above to encompass other aspects of Institutional Operations.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline
- Experience with multi-step organic syntheses
- Familiarity with purification techniques, particularly HPLC
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

$19.25/hr
