Central Branch is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Facilities Department team! As part of our branch team, you’ll help maintain a clean, safe, and inviting space for our members and staff. We're seeking someone with hands-on experience in custodial and maintenance work who is also eager to grow and learn new skills.
The Facilities Coordinator position performs maintenance as assigned by the Facilities Director. In the absence of the Facilities Director, this position will be the primary backup staff member to the Facilities Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assess the proper mechanical operation of pools, equipment and facilities upon arrival.
- Assume secondary responsibility to monitor, troubleshoot and repair building systems. This includes light diagnostics/repairs of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing’s systems.
- Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner.
- In the absence of the Facilities Director, oversees all contractors that work in the facility and on the YMCA grounds.
- Assists with snow removal and when needed helps with lawn care and general cleaning.
- Ensure proper working order of equipment within facility and keeps standard inventory of necessary repair items required in the facility at all times.
- Complete task list established by Facilities Director.
- Follow all safety regulations in accordance with OSHA and all other industry guidelines and procedures.
- Daily communication with supervisor and Branch team regarding status of all custodial and maintenance projects. Position requires some supervision of outside cleaning company.
- Candidate will always use highest standard of safety for themselves and their staff. Follow all safety regulations in accordance with OSHA and all other industrial safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with YMCA, local, and state policies and regulations.
- Flex schedule to match the changing needs of the Branch Facility.
- Participates in staff meetings and other Branch and Association meetings are required.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must always maintain a professional appearance.
- At least 3 years of experience in custodial and maintenance roles
- The Facilities Maintenance Staff must have a High School diploma and related experience in mechanical repairs, and/or equivalent training.
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive, can-do attitude. Reliability and the ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- This position requires the ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair basic HVAC, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing issues. Pool maintenance and chemical control experience is preferred but will train.
- Availability during the required days and times.
- A commitment to creating a healthy, friendly, and productive environment for everyone at the branch.
- Should be able to follow directions, work under minimal supervision, and follow a timetable and complete assignments as prescribed by the Facilities Director.
- This position requires a working knowledge and practice of the highest safety standards in all areas of responsibility.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED, training within 30 days of employment
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.
SCHEDULE: 40 hours weekly position. Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-5:30 pm. Schedule is somewhat flexible for the right candidate.
PAY: $18.00/hour with full benefit package to include, generous PTO, access to facilities for immediate family members, Medical, Dental, Disability, Life, Vision, & Pet Insurance, EAP, and ability to participate 403B Retirement Savings Plan. Also, once fully vested, the YMCA will pay into a retirement account for you!
