Description
As a Commercial Lending Assistant you will perform a variety of duties in support of the Commercial Banking Group. You will interact with Commercial Bankers, other internal department personnel, and third-party providers to complete a variety of tasks associated with the origination of loans and the servicing of existing commercial clients. Your role is to assure that tasks are completed accurately, timely and professionally to ensure prompt and professional service to internal and external clients.
- This is a single incumbent position.
- Acts as direct contact with clients, commercial bankers and Loan Operations through loan process. Performs a variety of client service activities including responding to requests, researching discrepancies and resolving issues.
- Prepares commitment letters and other related correspondence.
- Obtains information related to the loan origination process including: ordering credit reports, appraisals, preliminary titles reports, UCC searches, environmental reports, insurance information, flood certificates, Secretary of State filings and various other items.
- Assists commercial bankers in the preparation of documentation necessary to properly document the credit files. May contribute to the preparation of the loan approval documentation.
- Orders loan documentation though Loan Operations, reviews the final documents noting proper rates, terms and conditions, of the loan, ensures appropriate approvals and actions are taken for a successful loan closing.
- Liaison with Borrower and third-party vendors in coordinating receipt and review of required documents to expedite closing process.
- May assist the commercial bankers with closings. Conducts a pre-closing and a post-closing file review and forwards the file to Loan Operations for booking, scanning and filing.
- Monitors loans, partners with commercial bankers to discuss past due ticklers and records documentation. Contacts clients to request financial information and insurance to support outstanding loans.
- Resolve client issues, cross-sell other banking products and services, and schedule meetings and appointments.
- Maintains knowledge of banking products and services, as well as knowledge of the industries or market areas served. Keeps abreast of current developments and market trends, to further identify and service the client’s needs.
- Completes tasks such as filing, photocopying, faxing documents, scanning and organizing and maintain supplies.
- Follows all applicable laws and regulations.
- Remain compliant with bank guidelines, policies, procedures, regulatory and BSA requirements.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months to one year of experience in an office environment.
- Successful completion of in-house training program (if available) or approved outside training program.
- Good understanding of financial institution products and services.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Strong client-service skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
