Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Senior Premium Auditor to join our team! 


What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?

  • Conducts audits of selected commercial lines adjustable policies, ensuring proper risk classification and exposure. This may include reviewing the policyholder’s business operation, including examining, verifying, and recording pertinent classification-related data from financial / business records. 
  • Examines reported state test audit differences, identifies the audit discrepancies, and responds to test audit inquiries within established due dates. 
  • Updates underwriting with any operational classification and / or large exposure changes, or any facts that may affect the insurability of an account. Works closely with underwriting, claims, and loss control staff to share information and analyze and summarize findings. 
  • Responsible for the review of audits completed by vendors. This may include contacting the vendor for correction, notification of audit management of issues pertaining to vendor work.
  • Analyzes and audits files to ensure accuracy and compliance with filings.
  • Assists management with the implementation of premium audit processes and procedures.
  • Reviews dispute information received from agents and policyholders to determine if dispute information is valid to warrant a revision.
  • Keeps up to date on changes and current information relative to premium auditing through industry-related literature. 
  • Responds to audit problems for agents and policyholders.
  • Makes recommendations to solve more complex problems.
  • Executes policies within assigned authority level. 
  • Applies knowledge to help solve problems of multifaceted scope and complexity.
  • Identifies and analyzes patterns from partial and / or conflicting data; identifies and implements appropriate solutions.
  • Regularly contacts employees across the organization.
  • Regularly contacts customers and agency partners.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?

  • Ability to follow process and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of industry practices as well as standard and underwriting concepts.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and solve basic problems.
  • Flexibility to handle various assignments.
  • Ability to interpret and apply auditing rules and regulations per company and bureau guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance or finance; experience in lieu of degree acceptable.

Compensation overview

The targeted hiring range for this role is $61,750 - $84,854, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and / or may be considered for other positions.
