SUMMARY

Responsible for safely providing on-site placement and collection of reusable Sharp Medical Waste containers through the healthcare system, while developing and sustaining customer relationships with hospitals, medical institutions, and other sharps’ waste generators.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.

  • Travels between facilities providing on-site  placement and collection of Sharp Medical Waste containers (Sharps, Rx, Haz, etc.) through a healthcare facility, as required or requested.
  • Collect/transport RCRA pharmaceutical waste and take      to central accumulation areas within facility.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key EVS/Facilities personnel in customer locations. 
  • Responsible for training and leading Hospital Waste Technicians. 
  • Fills in for other team members that are on vacation,  sick, leave, etc. as needed.
  • Coordinating/assisting management with the installation of sharps, pharmaceutical, and shred containers as needed      throughout customer locations.
  • Assist in building and monitoring technician schedules with Hospital Service Manager to ensure that time is used as      efficiently as possible in each facility.
  • Conduct quarterly hospital quality control checks /audits and report findings to the supervisor. Follow up with a plan of      action to correct the issues to uphold SMWS standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills and tact in providing superior customer service in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and with little supervision.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must possess reliable transportation to travel between customer facilities.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of sensitivity/compassion and discretion in patient rooms. May be exposed to various situations in a healthcare environment.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required.
  • Covid Vaccine Preferred

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent
