Qualifications

  • Constant viewing of computer monitor, mousing and typing
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hours of business are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be able to work early, late and long hours, as needed, to meet the essential functions of the job
  • Good job for people looking for a lot of interaction with patients and less paperwork

Responsibilities

  • Orthopedic technician completes a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for patients and staff as well as provides
  • assistance to physicians and as appropriate, provides back up for other staff members by performing the following duties
  • Room Patients
  • Performs patient education, answer questions as necessary
  • Applies splints, casts, and DME for patient treatment per physician orders
  • Handling of sharps, suture/stable removal
  • Prepares and assists with injections
  • Document in patient’s chart: Orthotech portion of visit
  • Answers patient telephone calls and document conversations/messages inpatient EHR chart
  • Orders DME and completes prior auth
  • Stocks clinical supplies in exam rooms and cast room
  • Meets all expectations outlined for MIPS
  • Abide by all OSHA and HIPAA regulations and guidelines
  • Fill in for Medical Assistants as needed
  • General office and clinical duties as needed
  • Typical business office environment

  • Frequent stooping, lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling 10 pounds or more
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

 

Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS: Education: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 

2. Completion of a Certified Orthopedic Technology training program preferred. 

3. Completion of an Allied Health program in a related field with Surgical Assist program preferred. 

4. Completion of an accredited medical assistant program Certification/Licensure: CPR certification for Health Care Providers. Experience: Minimum two (2) years experience in a clinic and/or hospital setting.
