Description

Overview:

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Credit Card Fraud Strategy to lead our issuer-side fraud prevention program with a sharp focus on payment and card-present/card-not-present (CP/CNP) transaction fraud. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing the fraud defense strategy to protect our customers and the company from financial losses, while balancing against negative customer experience.


This leadership position is central to our mission of securing the lifecycle of cardholder transactions—from authorization to settlement—and requires strong command of card processing fraud detection platforms such as Fiserv DefenseEdge and Feedsai. The successful candidate will bring years of expertise in managing issuer fraud risk, demonstrated success in managing global teams, and the ability to execute strategy in a fast-paced environment that represents multiple regulated financial institutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end fraud strategy for our credit card portfolios, with focus on real-time authorization fraud, payment fraud, and emerging threat management.
  • Lead the development and optimization of fraud rules, thresholds, and scoring models within Fiserv DefenseEdge and Feedsai, balancing fraud loss mitigation with customer experience.
  • Build and manage a diverse, high-performing team of fraud analysts and strategists across geographies, ensuring 24x7 monitoring and support.
  • Design and monitor fraud decisioning strategies at the transaction level, working closely with card network partners (Visa, Mastercard) and internal risk groups.
  • Work cross-functionally with Credit Risk, Product, Technology, Compliance, and Operational teams.
  • Drive data-led decision-making with responsibility for fraud rates, false positive ratios, and model lift.
  • Act as a strategic escalation point during fraud incidents; oversee root cause analysis and drive permanent corrective actions.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and partnerships to advance our fraud control capabilities.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of fraud strategy or fraud risk management experience, with significant focus on credit card issuer fraud.
  • 3+ years managing fraud strategy teams, including global or multi-regional leadership experience.
  • Deep expertise in issuer-side transaction monitoring, fraud detection, and authentication strategies.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and managing fraud rules and models in Fiserv DefenseEdge and Feedsai is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Visa and Mastercard authorization flows, fraud reporting (TC40, SAFE), and issuer network integrations.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with experience applying data science or advanced analytics to solve fraud risk problems.
  • Track record of successfully implementing fraud policy changes while minimizing customer impact.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFE, CAMS) a plus.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in issuer authorization fraud strategy for both consumer and small business portfolios.
  • Understanding of evolving fraud schemes such as tokenization bypass, synthetic identity, and mule activity.
  • Experience integrating fraud strategy into digital onboarding, mobile wallets, and real-time payments.

Physical Requirements:

The work is of an intellectual nature. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is required to stand and sit for prolonged periods. Specific vision abilities required include close and medium distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Salary:

$124,500 - $166,000 per year plus incentive plan.
